Questions to ask every roofing bid you collect

Collecting three quotes is smart. Use these five questions to understand what’s included and what’s not.

  1. Is tear-off and disposal included, or quoted separately?
  2. What happens if you find rotted decking, and how is that priced?
  3. What’s the workmanship warranty term, and does it transfer if I sell the house?
  4. Are you certified by the shingle manufacturer you’re quoting?
  5. Can I see proof of general liability insurance and workers’ compensation?

Ohio has no statewide roofing license, so that last question is an important one.

5Install roof

The crew protects landscaping and the driveway, tears off the old roof, replaces any bad decking, installs underlayment and ice-and-water shield, then lays the new roof. Magnetic sweeps run at the end of each day.

6Final inspection

A master craftsman inspects the finished roof. You receive your guarantee paperwork and manufacturer registration.

An average roof goes up in a couple of days, pending weather conditions. We call you the afternoon before if the forecast changes.

What roofing materials does KangaRoof install?

Architectural asphalt shingles

Asphalt covers most of the roofs we replace here. As a CertainTeed ShingleMaster Premier contractor installing to Integrity Roof System spec, we add SureStart coverage on top of our own workmanship warranty. Three system tiers are available.

Standing seam and metal panel

A metal roof lasts 40 to 70 years and sheds snow and ice cleanly. Upfront cost runs meaningfully higher than asphalt, but many homeowners treat it as an investment.

Low-slope and flat sections

Porch roofs, additions and dormers often sit at a pitch too shallow for shingles. We install membrane systems on those sections as part of the replacement.

Skylights

As a VELUX Certified Installer, we replace or add skylights while the roof is open. This is the least expensive time to do it and the only way to warranty the flashing with the roof.

Replacing a commercial roof?

What guarantees come with a KangaRoof replacement?

Your shingle system carries its own workmanship term on top of these, running 10, 20 or 50 years. The CertainTeed SureStart warranty covers the materials, and we register it for you after the final inspection.

What if storm damage is covered by insurance?

Hail and straight-line wind move through the Cincinnati and Dayton regions most springs. Storm claims make up a steady share of the roofs we replace.

Your Roofing Advisor documents damage in the format adjusters expect and works with your carrier through the claim. We handle the rest of the paperwork, so all you need to do is pay the deductible.

How can I afford a new roof?

KangaRoof partners with Kemba Financial Credit Union to offer 24 months of interest-free financing. You can apply before your project is scheduled.

We also work with your insurance company and can help you file a claim.

Roof replacement questions we hear most

An average roof goes up in a couple of days in good weather. Roof size, pitch and how many layers come off all move that. Rain delays the process considerably, so we call you the afternoon before if the forecast shifts.
Ohio code allows two layers on most residential structures, so a layover is sometimes possible. We recommend against it. Covering old shingles hides decking damage, shortens the life of the new roof and rules out extended manufacturer coverage.
Spring through fall gives the most reliable installation weather, since asphalt shingles need moderate temperatures to seal. We recommend against a planned winter install unless the roof is an emergency. Fall books up fastest here, so call early for that window.
Age is the strongest signal. An asphalt roof installed 20 or more years ago is near the end of its rated life. Granules collecting in the gutters, shingles curling at the edges and daylight visible through the attic boards all point the same direction.
No. Most homeowners are at work while the crew is on the roof. We ask that you move vehicles out of the driveway and let us know about anything fragile near the house.
Architectural asphalt shingles typically last 25 to 30 years in this climate. Freeze-thaw cycling and summer heat age a roof faster than the manufacturer’s lab rating suggests. Attic ventilation is the single biggest factor in whether a roof reaches the high end of that range.
Price depends on roof size, pitch, tear-off layers, decking condition and which shingle system you choose. StraightforwardPricing® means one written number after an estimate, with no surprise fees. Our Ironclad Lowest Investment Guarantee matches any lower price on the same system.
